Britain to donate 42m condoms to South Africa prior to Soccer WC

    (ANI)

Britain has decided to provide 42million condoms to South Africa before the Soccer World Cup as part of HIV prevention drive.

South African President Jacob Zuma had made a request of an extra billion, during a recent visit to the UK to meet the Queen, in a bid to meet demand of tourists during the event.

"Obviously there's a big focus on the World Cup coming up and a huge increase in the number of people coming into South Africa," the Guardian quoted the international development minister, Gareth Thomas, as saying.

The Department for International Development is reportedly set to announce the 1-million-pound funding at an emergency summit in London on HIV prevention and treatment.

He added: "The South Africans have identified themselves the need to get more condoms in place. South Africa specifically asked for British assistance and we are responding to that request."

Meanwhile, South African government has warned that 40,000 prostitutes might enter the country during the World Cup. (ANI)

So we have 40 million condons from the Brits and the Pres wants an extra billion. We are looking at an inflated figure of 40,000 hookers. Do the math. Maybe South Africa has figured out how to make weapons out of condoms.

At least our government is being up-front and forthright about the challenges we’re going to face for the world cup. If you actually think about it, 42 million condoms isn’t nearly enough, think how many millions of people are going to come to SA, and how many of them are going to be having sex several times a day, and you realise that over a billion condoms will be necessary. We are county with the highest AIDS infections in the world, we need to approach the problem in new ways. This kind of honesty from the gov. is one of them.
