Toddler in US plays with unattended gun, kills friend
    Dallas Sun
    Saturday 31st July, 2010

A young boy accidentally shot dead his friend after playing with unattended gun in Indianapolis.
A four-year-old boy in the United States shot and killed a three-year-old in a shocking case that has rocked the Indianapolis community in which the tragedy took place.

Local policeman Lt Jeff Duhamell told The Indianapolis Star that the boy had picked up the weapon, a .45-calibre handgun, pointed it at the girl’s head and fired.

The gun had been left unattended on the kitchen table where the children were also left to play.

The girl, Aunesti Lee Allen, was not killed instantly but died several hours later at Riley Hospital for Children.

Aunesti was the daughter of the boy's father's girlfriend.

The girl’s mother, Fiona C Lee, has been charged with neglect and drug possession after police found cocaine and marijuana in the 26-year-olds house where the shooting took place.

Two young siblings of Aunesti who witnessed the tragedy are reportedly being cared for by a relative.

Bet these are fine, upstanding ..........Americans... Why would relatives be allowed to care for the kids, haven’t they proven the family is screwed up?

Shame on the Indiana Gun laws

Fools we don’t need every one with a hand gun. I live in an apartment complex where people talk about shooting each other and they do have the gun to do so. They are fools and cowards and have laws in this back water state that gives them the chance to kill one another.

    punish bad behavior

These adults were obviously negligent and should be punished. Gun ownership is a privelege that too many take for granted. These morons give all gun owners bad names and fuel the anti-gunners with examples of tragedy. I pray for the children.

Poor Baby! That Mother Should Be Imprisioned!

My thoughts is that this mother should be imprisined for life! This is a serious situation! No mother should ever have a kid when having illegal drugs in her house and plus having illegal hand-guns! What is wrong with this woman?! I feel very sorry for this little girl. She didn’t desirve this unexpected punishment. Thank the Lord that she at least made it to the hospital! God bless her little soul!

Might as well say that the only reason the gun was there was because of the drugs. The drugs caused the death.

Gun ownership is not a privilege, but a right. Read the constitution.

To many people choose to blame the tool.

A gun is a tool like a hatchet, knife or hammer. All of the above can be lethal when misused. The key here was why the gun was loaded and a trigger lock was not installed with small children in the house. Further showing kids guns are not toys always helps. Take them out and shoot a watermelon in front of them so they know it will hurt someone and last always teach proper gun handling and safety. Everyone who exercises the right to own a gun should prove the ability to know how to use it and how to keep it safe. Kids come over the guns are locked up period end of story. I agree the owner of the gun should go to court and see some jail/community service time. What was the owner doing with two small children in the house unattended?
